Frequently Asked Questions

Security

  • Is my film secure?

Game films are stored and distributed on our secure network. This service is designed to be viewed only by the users you designate. Game Film Network will never make your game films available for public viewing.

  • Can I share film with other coaches?

Our exchange feature provides one to one exchanges with other coaches that subscribe to our Game Film service. The exchange is done only when both coaches have uploaded their film. Opposing coaches only have access to the films you uploaded for exchange, they do not have access to your team. This feature is only available on school accounts.

  • Who within my team can view film?

First a coach must add you as a member of the team so you can log in.  Once you have logged into a team, film is organized for viewing by two groups (Coaches Only vs. Coaches and Players).  If a coach has defined a film role as Coaches Only, then only users who are coaches can see and view the film.  If the film is marked as Coaches and Players, then all members of the team can view the film.

Subscription

  • How do I signup and purchase your service?

Signing up for our Game Film service is easy; just register at our Sign Up Now page. Once your team has been created, you can start uploading game film and adding users to your team. We provide a ten day, no obligation free trial. During that time, if you decide to purchase this service, simply complete the order form that is emailed to you.

  • How long does the subscription run?

Your subscription provides Game Film services for one year from the date of purchase.

  • What are the limitations of this service?

Customers are limited to the number of users assigned to the account and the amount of storage that can be used for game films. We have set these limits high however and we have yet to see a customer exceed them.  If your needs exceed our limits, additional users and storage space can be purchased. See our Pricing page for details.

  • So what's the catch?

That's just it.  There is no catch.  What you see is what you get.  We have spent a year researching how to deliver the best possible game film service to you without limitations.  Give it a try; you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!

Upload

  • What is the process for uploading film?

Select the film that you would like to upload and distribute to your team. Choose who on your team can view each film, allowing either "Players and Coaches" or "Coaches Only" to view it. Once you have uploaded the film to our server, we will optimize your film and send you an email when it is ready for viewing. For more information, see How It Works.

  • What is the largest size of film I can upload?

While we have tested uploading game films up to 2 GB in size, our upload technology has a limit of 4 GB.

  • How long does it take to upload a game?

Transmission time is dependent on the size of the film and your bandwidth (ie broadband, dsl, etc). Upload time can take just 5 minutes to an hour for the average sized game film depending on your internet connection.

  • How do I notify members that film is ready for viewing?

Our service is designed to simplify the process of film distribution. Once you upload a film and it is optimized by us, an email notice is automatically sent to all authorized users for that film.

Streaming

  • Do I have to download the film before I can watch it?

Our media streaming service allows you to watch the film as it is being delivered. There is no need to wait for the entire film to be downloaded. In addition, you can jump to any point in the film and begin watching right away.

  • How much bandwidth do I need?

To have an optimal viewing experience, you should be on a dsl or broadband internet connection.  You may log into our Demo Team to see what your experience is like.  Please contact us if you have questions, buffering issues or other circumstances.

  • What if the film is constantly buffering?

This means the film bitrate is too high or your internet connection is too low or too congested.  Our technical staff can optimize your film and/or your video player to ensure continuous play.

  • What is the file format of the film?

We encode all game film to the Microsoft Windows Media Video format (.WMV).  We do this for many reasons: a.) using a standard format we get a standard experience b.) the WMV format streams extremely well c.) this format allows users to download the file and easily burn it to a DVD d.) most of our coaches already use this format for their film e.) most of our users are on Windows based PCs thus this format works out of the box.  Remember: You may upload your film in any format.  We will encode it to a WMV format so that everyone on your team can view it.

  • What media player do you use to play the film?

Windows Media Player is needed to view film.  For Firefox users, a WMP Plugin is required.  Linux users can use a compatible player such as MPlayer.  Mac users can use Quicktime with the Flip4Mac plugin installed.
